Local Green councillor Blair Anderson has welcomed the investment of tens of thousands of pounds to upgrade local parks.

After Greens secured a climate and nature emergency declaration, Glasgow will be getting 23 new and improved local nature reserves, including Bingham’s Pond. The pond’s new status will see better protection for wildlife, repairs to railings and a new picnic bench.

The games area in Mansfield Park is getting upgraded, and the park will see improved paths, landscaping and greenery. Meanwhile, the play areas in Walker Street, Dowanhill Park and Hayburn Park will all receive investment.

Blair said:

“Residents deserve access to pleasant green spaces and children should have the chance to play safely and close to home. Tackling the climate and nature emergency gives us the opportunity to build a fairer, greener city and I’m excited to see our parks get the investment and care they deserve.”
