Donside: Scottish Green Candidate Thanks Voters
Scottish Greens say the Aberdeen Donside by-election has helped them build their profile in the North-east as they look towards future General and Scottish elections.
The Donside constituency was new territory for the Scottish Greens, who have traditionally only stood on the regional list at Holyrood elections.
The party had an MSP for the North-east between 2003 and 2007 and last year got its first councillor in Aberdeenshire.
Candidate Rhonda Reekie said:
"I congratulate Mark Macdonald on becoming the new MSP for Aberdeen Donside. I would like to thank everyone who voted Scottish Green in the election, and I'd like to thank the election staff, my agent John McCallum and all our helpers."
Scottish Greens co-convener Patrick Harvie MSP said:
"For the first time in the region, we have fought a parliamentary by-election. We worked hard to take our message on green jobs and public infrastructure to the community. We look forward to growing our campaigning in the North-east in the months and years ahead."
