FMQs: Greens call for free bus travel for young people
Making bus travel free for young people would bring social and economic benefits to communities across Scotland, according to Scottish Greens co-Leader Patrick Harvie MSP.
A week from now the Scottish Government will publish its budget and the Scottish Greens have put improving public transport to tackle the climate emergency at the heart of their proposals.
Patrick Harvie MSP said:
“Next week the Scottish Government will publish its budget, and Greens have made the case that this needs to be a climate emergency budget. It’s time for the Scottish Government to stop pouring money into a multi-billion pound road expansion programme, and instead commit to making public transport more available, more reliable and more affordable. Free bus travel for young people would bring huge social and economic benefits to communities across the country, and encourage more and more people to leave their cars behind.”
