GLASGOW GREENS COMMENT ON DECISION FOR NIGHT BUS SERVICES
Commenting on news that First Bus and McGill's are to operate nine weekend night bus services serving the greater Glasgow area, Glasgow Greens Transport spokesperson, Councillor Christy Mearns said:
"We welcome the decision to retain most of Glasgow's night bus services. This will secure safe, sustainable nighttime transport for many city centre visitors and workers.
"As well as wanting night services to continue, Green councillors also called for their routes to be reviewed so they better meet people's needs and for bus operators to work more closely in partnership with the Council and other public agencies. This announcement shows progress, but it's important that is built on and that all possible opportunities to strengthen and improve services continue to be taken. Enabling use of concessionary cards is another practical step that would help boost the use of night services."
