Greens: Boris Johnson leaves a legacy of failure
Scottish Greens co-leader Lorna Slater has accused outgoing Tory leader Boris Johnson of leaving a "legacy of dishonesty and failure."
Her comments follow his final speech as PM, which she said showed no sense of reflection or remorse.
Speaking as Johnson headed to Balmoral to tender his resignation to the Queen, she said:
"The speech was everything we've come to expect from the Prime Minister. It was full of boasts and bluster but had no sense of reflection or remorse."
"He will be leaving a legacy of dishonesty and failure. Whether it is the Brexit deal he negotiated, which has driven up prices while costing jobs and curbing our right to travel, all of the lies and mistruths he told about Partygate and dodgy donations or his failure to intervene in the biggest cost of living crisis for decades."
"Right till the end he has opposed Scotland's right to determine our own future. But the issue will not go away. Independence is not a choice for Boris Johnson or Liz Truss, it is a choice for the people of Scotland."
"It's not just Boris Johnson that we need to move on from, it is the government he has led and the policies and vision that he represents."
