Greens: Caution still required around school safety
Vulnerable staff and pupils will still be able to wear face coverings, even though the requirement to wear them in classrooms has been removed, it has been confirmed.
Scottish Greens education spokesperson Ross Greer raised the issue at First Minister’s Questions after concerns were raised by school staff who are still clinically vulnerable.
Ross Greer said: “This decision was made on the basis of clinical advice and will certainly be welcomed by many, but we must remember the vulnerable pupils and staff for whom it will only add to the anxiety about their safety at school. It's important to emphasise that face coverings should still be worn in communal areas such as corridors and that anyone is still free to wear a mask in class if they want to.”
