Greens will keep up the pressure to invest in what our teachers and pupils really need
Responding to the announcement by teaching union the EIS that it plans to ballot its members on industrial action over new school qualifications, Isla O'Reilly, Education spokesperson for the Scottish Greens and MSP candidate for the Highlands and Islands, said:
"The frustration of teachers is understandable. Having faced huge pressures and increased workload with the introduction of Curriculum for Excellence and the new qualifications systems it is disapponting that the government's expert group has not addressed all the concerns.
"Teacher workload is a priority for the Scottish Greens and we must recruit more staff to provide teachers with time to teach. It is clear that the SNP need pushed on this important issue. While other parties have distracted the SNP with regressive national testing, Greens will keep up the pressure to invest in what our teachers and pupils really need.
"Green regional votes on Thursday will make all the difference in giving every region of Scotland a bold voice on these issues."
