Greens win Christmas reprieve for Mossmorran communities

Mossmorran flaring

Responding to the announcement that the restart of the Fife Ethylene Plant will now be delayed until the New Year, Fife's Green MSP Mark Ruskell said:

“I am delighted that pressure from the Scottish Greens has delivered this welcome win for the communities around Mossmorran, who can now look forward to a peaceful Christmas and New Year break.

“This announcement comes after Patrick Harvie and I consistently raised this matter with the First Minister, and shows that the Scottish Greens are using our influence in parliament to ensure that the voices of communities are heard.

"I’m pleased the plant operators have finally listened to local concerns, and are now providing regular updates to the community. This needs to be the bench mark for communication going forward, and I hope they will continue to be open about the restart process”.
