Milngavie Needs Council Action on Cost of Living
Scottish Green candidate for Milngavie Dr Emma Sheppard has a long record of campaigning to improve health and welfare through tackling the climate and nature emergency.
Holyrood Greens have a strong focus on tackling poverty, having pushed for doubling of Scottish Child Payment to £20.
Greens in Holyrood have also won local funding for :
- insulation,
- cheaper cleaner transport,
- teacher recruitment,
- nature recovery, and
- better, safer active travel options.
We need a strong Green voice like Emma's in Milngavie to get the money spent urgently for action on climate and cost of living in East Dunbartonshire.
We need Green Councillors to help avoid further missed opportunities, like the councils failure to even apply for Spaces for People funding during the pandemic.
We must guard against increasing the council's PFI debt which is mounting- most recently following failure to get Scottish Future Funding for new schools. They were refused this funding due to failure to move away from dependence on polluting gas in the new builds.
