Poll of polls shows Greens on the up
For immediate release 27 April 2011
Today's poll of poll analysis by Weber Shandwick confirms that voters are continuing to move towards the Greens and away from Labour, the Tories and the Lib Dems, and their projections are that the Greens will more than double their representation at Holyrood.
Patrick Harvie said:
"There are two elections going on here, and two questions to be answered. First, who will be First Minister, and second, who will hold the balance of power at Holyrood? On that second question there are only two credible answers: either the Greens or one of the Westminster coalition parties. We believe the Scottish people want a clear alternative to the coalition's ideological right-wing agenda, and that's why our poll numbers appear to be heading steadily upwards. There's an awful lot more hard work to be done, though, and our members and activists are now starting the most intensive last week of campaigning we have ever done.
"This election should be asking the people to make a clear choice between cuts to public services and raising revenue more fairly. The Tories are at least being honest about their desire for cuts, but neither Labour, the SNP nor the Lib Dems have any credible way of funding their pledges. This level of collective dishonesty may carry them through to polling day, but it will unravel as soon as budgets have to be set. Only Greens have consistently set out how to raise revenue and protect public services."
