Poll: public back Greens in government
A majority of the public believe the new deal which places the Scottish Greens in government will be ‘good for Scotland’, a new poll has shown.
The Opinium poll for SKY News shows that most people approve for the cooperation, with a third of Labour voters backing the deal which will see the Scottish Greens create jobs and introduce rent controls.
The poll also shows a majority support for independence, which is reflected in the political makeup in the Scottish parliament.
Commenting, Scottish Greens MSP Gillian Mackay said: “It’s clear that the public see Scottish Greens in government as a positive step for the country. That’s because our cooperation deal reflects their priorities for a green recovery from the pandemic that tackles the climate emergency head on and leaves no-one behind.
“It’s also encouraging to see another poll in favour of independence, in a week when the UK Government has announced a new regressive tax, abandoned refugees and taken climate commitments out of its grubby post-Brexit trade deals.”
Over 50% back the deal when don't knows removed.
