Scottish Greens unveil first ever poetic PPB
The new Scottish Greens party political broadcast is the UK’s first to feature slam poetry.
‘Gray Votes Green’, which airs on STV and BBC Scotland tonight, features Glaswegian spoken word poet Gray Crosbie, who has been published throughout the UK and has been featured several times by BBC social.
Their poetry also once triggered Piers Morgan on twitter.
In their poem, Gray explains why they vote Green, highlighting the impact Scottish Greens have had on Scotland, including influencing income tax reform, winning free bus travel for young people and protecting the environment such as taking on developers at Loch Lomond and elsewhere, and winning protection for mountain hares.
Commenting, Gray Crosbie said: "I was thrilled to be asked if I would write something for the Scottish Greens. I've voted Green for years and felt it was important to stress the clear impact that vote has had and how urgently we need more green voices, especially with the next Scottish election approaching.”
Scottish Greens co-leader Lorna Slater said: “We are so grateful to Gray for this moving work. Their heartfelt and personal reflection on what it has meant to vote Scottish Green renews our commitment to continue to play a positive role in building a fairer and greener Scotland, in parliament and, as Gray says, ‘with banter and banners’ on our streets.”
