Significant court ruling paves way for change in beaver management
Responding to a court of session judgement on the management of beavers in Scotland, Scottish Greens environment spokesperson Mark Ruskell MSP said:
“This significant decision by the court paves the way for a change in how protected species, including beavers, can be managed in Scotland.
“The Scottish Greens cooperation agreement with the Scottish Government already indicated a change in direction and today's judgement will no doubt accelerate this so that beavers will be properly protected and, if needed, translocated across Scotland to areas where they have been missing for centuries, rather than slaughtered.”
