Support for isolation remains key as cases climb
Supporting people who test positive for coronavirus to self-isolate remains key as case numbers hit a record high, Scottish Greens health and social care spokesperson Gillian Mackay has said.
The call comes after figures published today showed that 3,887 positive cases were registered.
Gillian Mackay said:
“While the roll played by the vaccines in reducing serious illness, hospitalisations and deaths is clear in these figures, the significant increase in case numbers, to a record high, is cause for concern.
“The Scottish Government must make it easier for people who have tested positive to self-isolate. Providing financial support to people who face losing income is vital, but for many offers of practical assistance like getting the shopping in, picking up a prescription or having someone walk the dog may be just as important.
“It’s vital that the test, trace and supported-isolation systems are operating efficiently and providing people with all the support they require to do the right thing.”
