Teaching unions are right to ask Government to be clear about intentions
Ross Greer, Education spokesperson for the Scottish Greens and MSP for West of Scotland, today (15 June) welcomed comments by the EIS and Scottish Secondary Teachers Association, who are cautioning the Government over potential reorganisation of education in Scotland.
Ross Greer MSP said:
"More upheaval in the education system is the last thing teachers, students and parents need and our trade unions are right to ask the Government to be clear about its intentions. Teacher workload, teacher numbers and Additional Support Needs provision are all areas which have not received enough attention from Scottish Ministers. These should be our priorities, not an unnecessary and unwelcome reorganisation.
"Greens will challenge any attempt to remove the democratic function that communities and local authorities play in our education system.”
