Tories set to punish pandemic workers
Responding to reports that the Chancellor is set to announce a public sector pay freeze, Scottish Greens co-leader Patrick Harvie said:
“It is absolutely unacceptable that those who have served in our emergency services, hospitals and schools throughout this pandemic could be handed a real terms pay cut by this cruel Tory Government.
“This is the same Government which the National Audit Office and the British Medical Journal have revealed has used pandemic procurement to make money for Tory MPs and their friends. It is a government inflicting economic catastrophe on the UK by pursuing a no-deal deregulated Brexit.
“To punish our frontline workers instead of rewarding them is unforgivable. Only a crony capitalist wouldn’t give these people a raise.”
