TTIP: HARVIE BACKS UNITE CALL FOR CAMERON VETO
Patrick Harvie MSP, Finance and Economy spokesperson for the Scottish Greens, is welcoming the continued campaign from Unite the union to oppose the controversial TTIP trade deal.
Scottish Greens are the only Holyrood party opposed to TTIP. The deal aims to remove barriers to multinational corporations and could enable them to sue governments over profits.
Patrick Harvie, Scottish Green MSP for Glasgow, said:
"Unite are to be praised for their clear position of outright opposition to TTIP. While the exemption of the NHS from the deal is important, the whole deal stinks.
“The Prime Minister has previously dismissed concerns as nonsense but the strength of feeling on this issue has grown massively, showing how out of touch he is. TTIP is a corporate power grab that threatens workers' rights and public protections, and I urge campaigners to keep up the pressure to stop this dangerous deal.”
