Yellowhammer documents reveal no deal disaster
The so-called ‘Yellowhammer’ documents published last night by the UK Government show that Scotland is facing disaster in the face of Boris Johnson’s No Deal Brexit according to Scottish Greens Parliamentary Co-Leader Alison Johnstone MSP.
The documents callously details that, ‘low income groups will be disproportionately affected by any price rises in food and fuel.’
The information released by the government last night also reveals concerns around, ‘a rise in public disorder and community tensions,’ and notes the ‘significant risk’ of a failure in the chemical supply chain.
The Yellowhammer release also states that ‘Law enforcement data and information sharing between UK and EU will be disrupted’ and alarming notes that, ‘the reliance of medicines and medical products ‘ supply chains on the short straits crossing make them particularly vulnerable to severe extended delays.’
Alison Johnstone MSP said:
“The Court of Session has ruled that Boris Johnson has unlawfully shut down parliament and now his own government’s documents highlight that his plans for a no deal Brexit is an attack on the poor, threatens a rise in public disorder and risks the supply of medicines.
“This Tory Government is completely out of control and it is vital that the UK Parliament reconvenes at once in order to hold this reckless regime to account. It is simply inconceivable that Boris Johnson and co can be allowed to progress these catastrophic plans, unhindered by parliamentary scrutiny for the next five weeks.
“The people of Scotland voted overwhelmingly to remain in the EU, but even our friends and neighbours down south who voted to leave never did so with the knowledge of the carnage that could be inflicted. It’s time to put a stop to this outrage now.”
