Green MSP John Finnie recently joined local candidate Kevin Hamilton on the campaign trail ahead of the council elections on 4th May.
Hamilton, who will contest the Cumbernauld North ward for the party, is one of nine Green candidates in North Lanarkshire. This is the first time Greens have fielded candidates at a full council election in North Lanarkshire.
Every voter in Cumbernauld and Kilsyth will have the opportunity to vote Green, with the party fielding a candidate in each of the four wards in the area.
Kevin Hamilton said:
“It was great to have John Finnie campaigning with us. We received a great reception from all those we spoke to.
“We are delighted to be fielding candidates in every ward in Cumbernauld and Kilsyth, giving everyone in the area the chance to vote Green for the first time.
“Greens will speak up for our communities, and call for greater transparency from the council. We’re seeking greater investment in active travel which will help promote active lifestyles and tackle poor air quality, as well as better public transport which works for our communities.”

“I was pleased to join Kevin and the team campaigning in Cumbernauld. They received an excellent reaction from locals and I’m sure that reception will translate to a good share of the vote in May.”
