No more fossil fuels - join the march today
Scottish Greens co-leader Lorna Slater has called on supporters to rally for climate at the global day of action in Edinburgh today.
There has never been a more important time to stand up for climate and nature and demand a fair transition to clean energy away from fossil fuels.
I am asking you to join me and fellow Scottish Greens today from 11am, meeting at The Mound in Edinburgh, as part of a global protest to make sure world leaders understand there can be no new drilling for oil and gas.
We will be marching as a green bloc and need as many of you as possible to turn out, to share our message and to tell your friends and your families.
July was the hottest month on record with UN Secretary General António Guterres declaring that we have entered the era of “global boiling” as nations struggle with heat and crippling wildfires.
Days ago we witnessed the appalling tragedy of entire communities being washed away with in Libya after rain caused dams to burst and cause devastating floods. As many as 20,000 people are feared dead.
Yet still the Tory government refuses to rule out plans for drilling at Rosebank or reverse its unbelievable decision to issue more than 100+ new oil and gas licences in the North Sea, despite science proving emissions caused are incompatible with our survival.
We say enough is enough.
Scottish Greens say no more fossil fuels, It is why we are behind efforts to accelerate a Just Transition for workers so they can leave the fossil fuel industry behind for a cleaner future with renewables are at the heart of a green industrial revolution.
One that can support our huge investments in nature restoration, our work to transform how we heat our buildings, reimagine how we move around our cities, towns and villages, and re-shape our day to day lives, for the better.
So please, don’t be a bystander. Share your voice.
Join us at the Scottish Greens bloc at The Mound in Edinburgh today at 11am, grab one of our placards, and march with us to send a message loud and clear to Westminster and the world.
No more fossil fuels.
