Plans for Kirkcaldy Waterfront

One of Kirkcaldy’s greatest assets is our waterfront location and the stunning views over the Forth.

Plans to improve connections between the High Street and the waterfront include:

  • Changing the four-lane dual carriageway to a standard
    two-lane road
  • Improving pedestrian crossings
  • Adding more on-street parking nearer the leisure centre
  • Adding features to the spaces around the buildings and waterfront that encourage more use of the outdoor space and more social interaction (often referred to as 'public realm')

Do you agree that more parking is really necessary? Are the plan ambitious enough?

In an earlier news article - "Locals want leisure, not parking" - Fife Greens argued that Kirkcaldy already has an abundance of parking that is not fully utilised and that space in the town centre would be better put to pedestrian use and for leisure facilities.

Let the council know what you think of their plans by taking part in their online consultation at www.fifedirect.org.uk/waterfront before 8th October 2018.

A static display is also available in the Mercat Shopping Centre (outside the former Miss Maude’s Café) until the consultation closes on the 8th October
