Help is urgently need to save Otago Lane after a new planning application has been submitted for flats up to seven storeys high. These are to be built to the rear of 65-77 Otago Street and on Otago Lane and anyone concerned is asked to submit a planning objection by Friday 12th April.
There have been a number of proposals for this site over the last decade and there is local opposition to development on it. We fully support the concerns from local residents and businesses about proposals which go so firmly against the nature of a site which is part of both a Conservation Area and a Green Nature Corridor. Many of you may have signed a petition against this already but we are asking that, if you share these concerns, you please submit a letter objecting to the planning application as this carries much more weight. The deadline for submitting objections is Friday 12th April, 2019.
You can download a template letter from here:
The local campaign group 'Save our Lane' have also provided a template, and that can be found on their Facebook page.
