RCN survey shows importance of preventative health spending
Alison Johnstone, Health spokesperson for the Scottish Greens and MSP for Lothian, today (Monday) highlighted a survey by the Royal College of Nursing showing that Scotland’s nursing staff continue to see patients whose health is impacted by food poverty, poor housing and social isolation.
Alison said:
“This survey of frontline nurses and healthcare workers shows the importance of preventative health spending to reduce inequalities. It’s unacceptable that in the year 2016 we are failing to provide people with warm homes, decent public transport and affordable healthy food.
"For too long Governments have ignored the benefits of investing upfront to maintain good health. We need to see greater efforts to close the gap.”
