The centralisation of services is not what our health service needs
Responding to reports that a leaked NHS development plan earmarks maternity units at the Vale of Leven Hospital and Inverclyde Hospital for closure and suggests moving children's emergency care out of the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley, Ross Greer, Scottish Green MSP for West of Scotland, said:
“Again the staff and patients at hospitals across the West of Scotland have the insecurity of potential cuts and closures looming over them. The Scottish Government must reassure our communities that their maternity units, children’s wards and elderly wards are safe and they must do so immediately.
“The centralisation of services is not what our health service needs and it’s definitely not what patients and staff need. I hope the First Minister and health secretary can shed some light on this leak and confirm that these apparent proposals have no future.”
